DiaHelp is a mobile app specifically designed for diabetics providing instant help and support from a community of people with diabetes. With powerful features such as real-time locating and the ability to send SOS emergency requests or messages to the nearest users, DiaHelp ensures that help is just a tap away.

The challenge

Developing and launching an application that provides security, protection, and help for people with diabetes. It locates people around who can help in case of emergency and establishes connections between users. Users can send help requests for medications and/or medical devices they need and the app will inform helpers in nearest proximity with notification and option to connect. The application comes with many features like an SOS button, emergency requests, SMS messages, chat, panic contacts, medication management, location discovery, and more. The biggest challenge was to ensure ease of use while having the scalability and performance required for a large number of users.

The solution

Development of a mobile application for Android and IOS using cross-platform technology, its back-end, and its database. The app includes features like locating and sending SOS emergency requests or messages to the closest users and provides the newest information from the world of diabetes. Users can also see the number of active users nearby and they can request instant help from other users in order to get the diabetes medication they need or communicate using inbuilt chat.

The main goal of the DiaHelp application is to combine advanced features to provide instant help and support during critical moments. In times of emergency, the app offers a robust SOS help request system. With just a tap of a button, users can immediately send distress signals to nearby users, alerting them to their urgent situation. The app leverages cutting-edge technology to locate active users nearby. The push notification feature helps users to react quickly and stay informed about critical updates, emergency situations, or important announcements from the diabetes community. Through a user-friendly interface, users can easily find and connect with others who understand the challenges of diabetes. To enhance the safety net, the app offers panic contacts for instant help who can be reached instantly in times of crisis. With a single tap, the app alerts panic contacts, notifying them of emergencies and providing vital information.

With DiaHelp’s chat feature, users can easily establish connections and engage in real-time conversations with other users, share experiences, seek advice, and provide support. In case of an emergency, the app enables instant conversations upon accepting connection requests for receiving help, suggestion, or guidance. The DiaHelp app also takes safety and convenience to the next level with location sharing and map preview. As one of the key features, this enables sharing of the current location with trusted connections, allowing users nearby to see where users in need are in real-time. This feature is particularly valuable in emergencies or when meeting up with fellow users, followed by preview maps that ensure users have a visual representation of their destination, making it easier to plan meetups and navigate unfamiliar areas.

“Looking beyond just an app, DiaHelp connects people that share the same burden – people with diabetes. Providing security, protection, and help for people with diabetes within a single mobile application resulted in building a modern diabetic community that can easily connect and help each other”

The main goal is to provide safety if the crisis occurs so the closest users can immediately find out that someone needs help, whether they are the closest family members or the people nearby from the community. With the DiaHelp app users also have access to the newest information from the world of diabetes so they can always be up to date with events and news and gain knowledge that will provide better diabetes regulation.
